The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Team Volta, has donated GH¢30,000 to the Ho Teaching Hospital as part of a corporate social responsibility initiative to adopt and refurbish a ward within the facility.

The donation was made on Monday, 16th December, 2025, during a brief ceremony at the hospital.

Presenting the cheque, the Regional General Manager of ECG, Ms. Christina Jatoe-Kaleo, stated that the gesture was part of ECG’s commitment to supporting quality healthcare delivery in the region.

She noted that the nature of ECG’s work requires prompt and reliable healthcare for its staff, hence the decision to adopt a ward to serve as a dedicated space for ECG employees when the need arises.

“We believe in not only powering homes and industries but also supporting the well-being of our staff and the communities we serve. This is our small contribution towards strengthening healthcare delivery and ensuring our staff have access to medical care in times of need,” Ms. Jatoe-Kaleo emphasised.

Receiving the cheque on behalf of the hospital, Mr. George Tetteh, Hospital Director of Administration, who represented the CEO, expressed his profound gratitude to ECG.

He commended the company for the thoughtful initiative and assured the team that ECG staff will be given the necessary medical attention whenever required.

“Though we hope none of your staff will fall ill, we are fully committed to providing them the best care should the need arise,” he stated.

After the presentation, ECG Management was taken on a tour of the identified ward to assess its current state and determine the refurbishment requirements.

The initiative reflects ECG’s dedication to employee welfare and its strong partnership with public institutions in the Volta Region.

The Security Heads, comprising the Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and other local security agencies, also played a pivotal role by assuring ECG of support in curbing illegal connections and protecting ECG staff during field operations.

ECG’s management, led by the Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Ebenezer Baiden, and the Director of Communications, Mr. William Boateng, used the platforms to listen directly to customer complaints, clarify billing issues, and assure the public of the company’s commitment to reliable and safe power delivery. Customers were also encouraged to cooperate with ECG staff during the ongoing replacement exercise.

The fora have helped to rebuild trust between ECG and the communities and opened further opportunities for collaboration towards safe, reliable, and customer-focused power service delivery.

Working closely with the Regional General Manager, Ms. Christina Jatoe-Kaleo, and the Denu District Manager, Ing. Timothy Afrim, the team addressed various customer concerns, explained ECG policies, and highlighted ongoing efforts to modernize metering systems and improve responsiveness.

The fora were chaired by respected Paramount Chiefs in the areas, whose presence helped foster trust and drive community participation.

The engagements also received strong backing from the Ketu South Municipal Chief Executive, the Member of Parliament, the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), the Energy Commission, and Assembly Members, all of whom assured ECG of their readiness to support the company’s interventions in the municipality.

Heads of the local security agencies were also in attendance and pledged their cooperation in helping to clamp down on illegal connections and protect ECG staff during field activities.
