A student at Dzodze-Penyi Senior High School (SHS) has alleged that the school’s headmaster, Joshua Vidzro, threatened her for refusing to undergo an abortion after sexual abuse and impregnating her.
The victim claims that the headmaster exerted pressure on her to terminate a pregnancy, and upon her refusal, issued threats against her.
In an audio recording, the alleged victim narrating her ordeal is heard informing the headmaster of her pregnancy.
In a separate interview with Fafa FM in Dzodze, she recounted accompanying the headmaster and another woman to take a sick colleague to the hospital.
On the return trip, the other woman left, leaving her alone with the headmaster.
According to the student, the headmaster of Dzodze-Penyi SHS bought her food before taking her to an apartment he claimed was his, where the alleged misconduct occurred.
“After eating, I wanted to dispose of the pack, and he directed me to the kitchen. When I came back, he locked the door and threw the keys away, and carried me to the bedroom. All this while I was shouting. He started removing my clothes and forced himself on me. After he sent me back to school,” she said.
She added, “I started to feel unwell last week, so I went to the hospital for some tests, and I was confirmed positive. I informed him, and he threatened me, saying if I can’t terminate the pregnancy, then he will kill me.”
Meanwhile, another student, aged 14, has reportedly made similar allegations. In response, the Ghana Education Service (GES) in the Volta Region has directed Vidzro to step aside immediately.
He has been instructed to hand over all official duties, records, and school property to the Municipal Director of Education for Ketu North, and to avoid contact with the affected students while investigations continue.
The Municipal Director has assumed temporary administration of the school.
GES and the Ministry of Education stressed that the safety and welfare of students remain a top priority and that all allegations of misconduct will be thoroughly investigated.
Updates will be provided as the matter progresses.
