Dr Randy Abbey appointed Ag. CEO of COCOBOD

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed renowned broadcaster Dr. Randy Abbey as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD).
The appointment, effective January 21, 2025, is in line with Article 195(1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 12(2) of the Ghana Cocoa Board Act 1984 (P. N. D. C. L 81). It is subject to the advice of COCOBOD’s Board and the Public Services Commission.
Dr. Abbey, who until recently hosted the popular Good Morning Ghana show, is set to succeed Joseph Boahen Aidoo, who resigned as CEO on January 16, 2025.
If approved, Dr. Abbey will lead the organization responsible for overseeing Ghana’s cocoa sector, a key contributor to the country’s economy.
This appointment marks a significant transition for Dr. Abbey, as he moves from media and public discourse into a pivotal leadership role in one of Ghana’s most critical industries.
