Dr Bannor labels NDC’s policies as “Out of Touch” with Ghanaians

Accra, Ghana – Dr. Frank Bannor, a renowned Development Economist and Head of Research at the Danquah Institute, has criticized the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for failing to connect with Ghanaians through its policies.

With the December elections looming, Dr. Bannor noted that the NDC’s policy initiatives, such as free university fees and a 24-hour economy, have been ineffective and counterproductive. He attributed this disconnect to the party’s reliance on provocative rhetoric rather than constructive dialogue.

“The NDC’s approach is characterized by inflammatory statements, propaganda, and a confrontational stance, which is not what Ghanaians need,” Dr. Bannor stated. He emphasized that such tactics heighten tensions rather than promote unity and constructive debate.

Dr. Bannor urged the NDC to adopt a more constructive and evidence-based strategy, focusing on substantive policy discussions and peaceful discourse. He criticized the party’s speculative actions, lacking solid foundations, which undermine policy credibility and erode public trust.

The Development Economist cautioned that aggressive rhetoric could exacerbate political instability and polarization, counterproductive to Ghana’s democratic processes. Instead, he stressed the importance of evidence-based policies and peaceful resolutions.

“The stakes are high, and the focus should be on advancing national interests rather than engaging in divisive tactics,” Dr. Bannor emphasized.
