Documents in ICUMS safe, secure-Ghana Link

Ghana Link Network Services Limited, operators of the Integrated Customs Management System (ICUMS), has dismissed concerns about a data breach and attached documents within the system that had gone missing.
Responding to a press release issued by The Transport Forum Ghana (TFG), which alleged the disappearance of attached documents within ICUMS after a system interruption on October 23, 2024, Ghana Link has firmly denied any data loss or security compromise.
In a detailed statement, the company clarified that while some users experienced temporary access issues due to a scheduled system upgrade, all data remains secure and retrievable.

Data integrity fully maintained
In a detailed statement, Ghana Link assured port stakeholders that despite the temporary disruption, the data integrity of ICUMS remains fully intact.
The company emphasized that all attached documents and historical records from 2020 to 2024 are securely stored within the system, and that the only records retrievable during the restoration were Customs Entry and Declaration files.
The upgrade was executed with the utmost care, ensuring that no data was lost, and that all information remains fully retrievable once the system is back online.

Addressing stakeholder concerns
The Transport Forum Ghana, a think tank representing users of ICUMS, had raised concerns regarding the missing attached documents and files during the system shutdown.
In response, Ghana Link clarified that the issues were only temporary and arose as a result of scheduled system optimization.
The statement also stressed that any perceived data loss is unfounded and that all data is safe and secure.
Users facing difficulties retrieving their files have been encouraged to contact the ICUMS Support Team directly at 0302750140 or 0596921182, or by emailing info@icums.gov.gh for prompt assistance.

Upholding data protection standards
Ghana Link reiterated its commitment to maintaining the highest data protection standards, in full compliance with Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).
“At no point has there been any breach of data confidentiality,” the company stated.
It added that this robust security framework ensures that sensitive trade records, customs entries, and all attached documents managed through ICUMS are safeguarded against any unauthorized access or data loss.

A commitment to seamless trade facilitation
In close collaboration with the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Ghana Link is dedicated to delivering a robust, secure, and efficient trade facilitation system.
The company confirmed that it would continue engaging with stakeholders to ensure that operations within Ghana’s trade and customs ecosystem remain seamless.
This ongoing dialogue is critical in maintaining the trust and confidence of the business community, which relies on ICUMS for the accurate recording of customs data.

Enhancing operational excellence
As global trade environments become increasingly complex, Ghana Link and the GRA are focused on continuous system upgrades to meet modern trade logistics demands.
The recent upgrade, and the subsequent affirmation of data integrity, underscores a proactive approach to maintaining operational excellence.
Stakeholders can rest assured that the investments made in ICUMS are secure, and that the system will continue to serve as a vital backbone for Ghana’s trade and customs operations.
In summary, while some users experienced temporary access issues during the scheduled system optimization on October 23-24, 2024, Ghana Link Network Services Limited has assured all stakeholders that ICUMS data integrity is fully intact.

The operator’s commitment to data security and system reliability remains unwavering, ensuring that Ghana’s economic progress is supported by robust, transparent, and efficient administrative processes.
