Dial 419 to report fraud – MTN

Report suspicious calls, scam messages, and mobile money fraud instantly by dialing *419# on the MTN network

MTN Ghana has launched MTN Y’ello Protect 419, a dedicated short code for reporting fraud and suspicious activities across all MTN services.

MTN Y’ello Protect 419 introduces “419” as the official short code for reporting fraud-related activities connected to MTN Ghana’s services, including connectivity, Mobile Money, and other digital solutions.

By simply dialling 419, customers can quickly report suspected fraud cases for immediate attention and action.

The initiative forms part of MTN Ghana’s ongoing efforts to safeguard customers, enhance security systems and strengthen consumer confidence in digital and financial services.

Commenting on the launch, the Chief Customer Relations Officer of MTN Ghana Jemima Kotei Walsh said, “The introduction of MTN Y’ello Protect 419 demonstrates our commitment to protecting our customers from fraud. By providing a simple and memorable shortcode, we are empowering consumers to take proactive steps in reporting fraud or anything that looks suspicious. We want to strengthen public trust, enhance customer protection and support our efforts to create a safer digital ecosystem for all”.

“Our valued customers and the general public are encouraged to remain alert and report any suspicious calls, messages, or transactions immediately by dialling 419”, she added.

Fraud remains a significant concern in the telecommunications and digital financial services space. Through this initiative, MTN Ghana aims to encourage vigilance among customers while ensuring swift response and resolution of reported cases.

The launch of MTN Y’ello Protect 419 augments MTN Ghana’s sustained efforts to combat fraud and safeguard its customers . Over the years, the company has implemented several proactive initiatives to prevent fraud and raise awareness among its customers and general public.

Some of the initiatives include consumer education, fraud campaigns, stakeholder engagements, edutainment programmes, roadshows and other community outreach activities, all designed to equip customers with the information needed to protect themselves from fraudulent activities.

Through these ongoing interventions, MTN Ghana continues to reinforce its commitment to customer protection while strengthening collaboration with its partners to fight fraud.
