A defamatory suit by Gifty Oppong Adorye, popularly known as Empress Gifty, a gospel musician, against Patricia Asiedua, aka Agradaa, a self-acclaimed evangelist, has been settled amicably.

This was after Agradaa had paid GHC100,000 to Empress Gifty and rendered an apology to her.

A statement issued by Agradaa’s lawyer, Richard Asare Baffour, on Tuesday said the settlement was adopted as a consent judgment by both the Tema Land Court and the Tema Main Court, formally bringing the two related lawsuits to an end.

“The terms of mutually agreed settlement were done today, January 20, 2026, and adopted as consent judgment by both the Tema Land Court  and the Tema Main Court, formally bringing the two related lawsuits  to an end,” it said.

The suits, initially filed on May 20, 2025 and June 26, 2025, stemmed from a publication by Agradaa, which was considered damaging  to Empress Gifty’s reputation.

In her original claims, Empress Gifty sought the court orders for payment of GHC40 million for alleged slander and libel.

She was also seeking a perpetual injunction restraining Agradaa from publishing further defamatory  statements.

Additionally, she sought the removal of all related content from social media platforms and full coverage of legal costs and professional fees.

The statement said that after constructive dialogue, the parties had settled  the matter privately.

It said Agradaa had made payments to Empress Gifty, covering  legal fees and expenses related to the case.

With the entry of the consent judgment, Empress Gifty  had agreed to irrevocably relinquish all claims.
