The long-standing murder case of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale has taken a new turn after the Madina District Court ended the prosecution of a key suspect, Daniel Owusu Koranteng.

The decision follows advice from the Attorney General’s Office, which directed that the case be discontinued. During Tuesday’s hearing on October 14, 2025, Chief Inspector Nana Afua Bamfoa Bamfo, the prosecutor, informed the court of the directive, leading the presiding judge to order Koranteng’s discharge over the murder of Ahmed Suale.

Suale, a leading member of Tiger Eye P.I., was fatally shot in January 2019 by unknown gunmen — a crime that sparked outrage both locally and internationally.

Despite early promises of swift justice, progress on the case has been minimal, and the discontinuation marks yet another setback in the pursuit of accountability for his killing.

Suale shot dead

In 2019, unidentified men on motorbikes shot Ahmed Hussein-Suale three times Accra.

He was a member of Tiger Eye, private investigations, and had investigated corruption in Ghana’s football leagues.

The undercover reported on cash gifts led to a lifetime ban for the former head of Ghana’s Football Association.

He made a documentary about the scandal after gaining access to the investigation led by journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, who runs Tiger Eye.

He was also part of an investigative journalism piece in collaboration with the BBC into human body parts sold for ritual magic in Malawi.

Hussein-Suale was shot twice in the chest and once in the neck in the suburb of Madina at about 11 pm.
