Claims President Akufo-Addo owns UK property dismissed

The Presidency has categorically dismissed allegations circulating on social media that President Nana Akufo-Addo owns 15 properties in the United Kingdom, describing the claims as false and baseless.

Director of Communications at the Presidency, Mr. Eugene Arhin, has urged the public to disregard the accusations, which he said are aimed at tarnishing the President’s reputation as he prepares to leave office.

Claims
The accusations focus on a property located at 75 Nottingham Terrace, London, City of Westminster, Greater London, NW1 4QE, which is owned by Stratton Enterprise Holding Limited.

According to the claims, this property was last sold in 2020 for £3.3 million.

Critics alleged that the President owns Stratton Enterprise Holding Limited and, by extension, the property in question.

However, a property search document used in attempt to substantiate the claim was manipulated.

The document, which contained the names of Mr. Edward Akufo-Addo and Mrs. Irene Akufo-Addo, referenced a property sold in 2005 for £350,000.

The false narrative attempted to link this 2005 sale price to 75 Nottingham Terrace, suggesting that the property was later acquired by President Akufo-Addo for £3.3 million.

Evidence points to the president’s brother
Official records from His Majesty’s Land Registry in the UK have clarified the situation.

In 2005, Edward Akufo-Addo, the younger brother of the President, and his wife, Irene Akufo-Addo, jointly purchased 32 Nottingham Terrace, London, Greater London NW1 4QB, for £350,000.

This property is distinct from 75 Nottingham Terrace and has no connection to President Akufo-Addo.

These public documents are readily available and confirm that the President does not own any property in London or anywhere else in the UK.

No connection to Stratton Enterprise Holding Limited
Mr. Arhin also refuted claims that President Akufo-Addo owns Stratton Enterprise Holding Limited.

“The President has no knowledge of, let alone ownership of, a company called Stratton Enterprise Holdings,” he asserted, describing the accusations as both baseless and malicious.

A legacy of integrity
The Presidency emphasized that these fabricated claims are an attempt to mislead the public and tarnish the President’s image as he concludes his tenure.

Mr. Arhin lamented the deliberate spread of misinformation, stating, “It is unfortunate and sad that such deliberate lies are being manufactured against a man who has dedicated his life to serving Ghana with honesty and integrity.”

He added, “President Akufo-Addo has no need to hide or misrepresent any aspect of his life or dealings. These distractions should not deter us from focusing on building a prosperous and progressive Ghana.”

Call for unity amid baseless accusations
The Presidency called on Ghanaians to dismiss these false claims and redirect their energy toward national development.

“Such baseless accusations only serve to create unnecessary distractions,” Mr. Arhin said, reiterating the need for unity as the President’s administration transitions out of office.
