Reports flooded social media platforms, particularly X, with users sharing screenshots of an error message stating, “An error occurred. Please try again later.”

The disruption began around 8:00 AM GMT and affected both free and paid users, including those with ChatGPT Plus subscriptions.

The outage impacted a broad range of users, from casual conversationalists to developers relying on ChatGPT’s API for integrated applications.

Many expressed frustration over the lack of immediate communication from OpenAI regarding the cause or expected resolution time.

Posts on X highlighted the error message’s vagueness, with some users speculating about potential causes, ranging from server overload to unscheduled maintenance.

As of 9:30 AM GMT, OpenAI had not released an official statement on its website or social media channels.

Social media platforms, particularly X, were flooded with complaints as individuals and businesses expressed frustration over the unexpected downtime.

The outage affected both the web and mobile versions of ChatGPT, rendering features like text generation, code assistance, and conversation history inaccessible. Many users, including developers and content creators who rely on the tool for daily tasks, reported significant workflow disruptions.

The outage sparked a mix of frustration and humour online.

As businesses and individuals await a full resolution, this event underscores the challenges of scaling AI technologies to meet global demand. OpenAI has promised further updates as the situation evolves.
