Caleb Otutu and Charles Paddy Sawyer showcase works at Accra City Hotel

Two Ghanaian artists, Caleb Kwesi Attah, and Charles Paddy Sawyer have opened their art exhibition at the Accra City Hotel.
The exhibition, which is being held under the theme, ‘Mother: The First Home’, focuses on iconic scenes and memories of Ghana and Accra.

The exhibition is in line with the hotel’s over two decades long corporate social practice of promoting local artists.
In his address to patrons, Caleb Attah, who draws under the pen-name, Caleb Otutu, expressed his gratitude to the hotel for giving artists a platform to exhibit their works to a local and international audience.
He noted that by this act, “the hotel is keeping our [artistic] heritage.”
He stated further that “this is an avenue to sell our works, but they have kept us memory for generations to come.”
Charles Sawyer on his part said that it had long been his desire to promote his artwork.
He was therefore grateful for the opportunity given him by the Accra City Hotel.
He was also grateful to the people who have supported him over the years, particularly his patron who had been a pillar for over a decade.

Elsie Addae, a member of the hotel’s Marketing Department, explained in an interview that the hotel took the decision to support local artists to showcase their works over 20 years ago.
They therefore came up with the month-long exhibition for artists, where two new artists are selected each month to display their artworks in the hotel, throughout the year.
These artworks are then replaced as and when they are purchased by clients of the hotel.
At the end of the month-long exhibition, the hotel is given one artwork which it gives away to its clients at the end of the year, as a way of promoting these artists.
During the exhibition period, the artist’s call card is left at the hotel lobby for interested persons and potential buyers to contact these artists.
