betPawa to pay players’ winning bonuses for Women’s FA Cup

betPawa, former title sponsor of the Ghana Premier League (GPL), has announced its decision to pay winning bonuses for players starting from the Round of 16 in the Women’s FA Cup Competition.
This initiative forms part of betPawa’s efforts to support and improve football in Ghana and across the African continent.
Beyond player bonuses, the company will also pay winning bonuses for three selected technical team members from each winning team.
The announcement was made by betPawa’s Chief Commercial Officer, Ntoudi Mouyelo, during a press interaction in Accra.
According to Mouyelo, female footballers will receive the same bonus amount as their male counterparts, marking a significant step toward equalizing football earnings.
“We’ve decided as a brand to focus on sports development,” Mouyelo stated. “Payment of these locker room bonuses is part of a pan-African initiative to invest $10 billion into African sports over the next five years.”
This move will ensure that players directly benefit from betPawa’s partnerships with sports associations, competition organizers, and recognized clubs.
The GH₵400 bonus represents an increase from the GH₵150 awarded during the 2022/23 GPL season.
When asked why the company was starting with the FA Cup and not the Women’s League, Mouyelo explained, “We have to start from somewhere, and this is just our way of showing that women’s sports are equally as important as men’s.”
He added, “Our aim is to become the primary local investor focused on players. We are also looking to invest in talent and grassroots [development].”
betPawa is also targeting investments to improve sports infrastructure across the continent, focusing on football and basketball.
