Rejoice Tsotso Bortei, a nurse at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge Hospital), has filed a GH¢7 million lawsuit against Ralph Saint Williams for alleged physical assault and defamation.

The suit, filed at the High Court in Accra, seeks GH¢5 million in damages for battery and GH¢2 million for defamatory statements made by the defendant-popularly known as Ralph De Fellow Ghanaian-following a violent incident on August 17, 2025.

According to the statement of claim, Ms. Bortei was on duty when Mr. Williams entered the emergency ward with a group of men, demanding immediate treatment for an injury to his fingers.

She stated that medical staff were attending to a patient with an open fracture at the time, and Mr. Williams refused to follow hospital procedures, insisting that his Ghana Card should suffice in place of a hospital card.

“When he was informed that it was not done like that in Ghana, he got visibly angry, hurled insults, abuses, and threats at the hospital staff without any provocation,” the plaintiff stated.

Ms. Bortei alleged that Mr. Williams filmed staff and patients without consent, breaching medical confidentiality, and later published the footage online.

She said she administered first aid despite his lack of active bleeding, but he removed the dressing and returned with a group of men, accusing the staff of abandoning patients.

Ms. Bortei recounted that while attending to other patients, Mr. Williams struck her with a clenched fist and a metallic cellphone.

She claimed that Mr. Williams and his followers—described as well-built men—escalated the attack, pounced on her, and brutally beat her.

Ms. Bortei said she sustained injuries to her shoulder, arm, back, and waist, and alleged that Mr. Williams later defamed her in a video, stating: “You say you have suffered an injured hand and dislocated shoulder. This is cooked up to cover the nonsense going on at the hospital.”

She said Mr. Williams’s comments damaged her reputation, caused emotional distress, and diminished her standing in the eyes of the public.

Ms. Bortei is seeking a public apology and retraction, a perpetual injunction against further defamatory publications, and a restraining order preventing Mr. Williams from coming within 50 metres of her.

She is also requesting legal costs and any other relief the court may deem appropriate.
