Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has showered praise on Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo, describing him as an “extraordinary player” ahead of Sunday’s Premier League showdown between Manchester City and AFC Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Guardiola was full of admiration for the Black Stars attacker, who has been in sensational form since the start of the 2025–2026 Premier League season.
“It’s not just this season. The way Bournemouth play suits him perfectly. He is an extraordinary player,” Guardiola said, per the BBC.
Semenyo, 24, has emerged as one of the league’s standout performers this season, scoring nine goals and providing three assists in nine appearances.
His consistency and explosive attacking displays have earned him a nomination for the Premier League Goal of the Month Award for October.
Sunday’s encounter promises to be a high-stakes fixture, with Bournemouth sitting second in the league standings and Manchester City fifth, as both sides look to keep pace in the title race.
Guardiola also offered an update on midfielder Rodri, who has been sidelined in recent weeks, hinting that the Spaniard could return for the crucial clash.
“I think he [Rodri] will be ready to help. I don’t know if he will be able to play from the beginning, but hopefully he can be with us,” Guardiola added.
Semenyo’s impact has been central to Bournemouth’s fine run this season.
Under manager Andoni Iraola, the Cherries have lost only one of their nine league games, with Semenyo’s pace, power, and eye for goal proving pivotal to their impressive start.
The Ghanaian forward’s form has also reignited excitement among Black Stars supporters, who view him as one of Ghana’s brightest attacking prospects in Europe.
As the in-form Bournemouth head to Manchester, all eyes will be on Semenyo once again — and even Pep Guardiola will be among those watching closely.
