World-famous boxer Anthony Joshua was involved in a road accident on Monday around 11 a.m. in Makun, Ogun State, Nigeria, according to eyewitnesses.
The incident occurred along the busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, just before Danco Filling Station on the Ibadan-bound axis near the Sagamu Interchange.
Joshua was travelling in a Lexus SUV (number plate KRD 850 HN) that reportedly collided with a stationary truck under circumstances still under investigation.
Eyewitness Adeniyi Orojo, who was part of the rescue effort, confirmed that Joshua sustained minor injuries, while two people died at the scene.
Orojo explained, “It was a two-vehicle convoy: a Lexus SUV and a Pajero SUV. Joshua was seated behind the driver, with another passenger beside him.

The vehicle had four occupants in total. His security detail was travelling in the vehicle behind them. After the crash, other eyewitnesses and I helped with rescue efforts and flagged down oncoming vehicles.
Officials from the Federal Road Safety Corps arrived a few minutes later. Tragically, the passenger beside Joshua and the driver died on the spot.”
Social media has since been flooded with messages of concern for Joshua, while local authorities continue their investigation.
Efforts to reach TRACE Commandant Akinbiyi Babatunde for updates were unsuccessful, as calls to his line could not go through.
