On Monday, October 14, 2024, the people of Dagbon, under the leadership of Yagbonwura Bikunuto Jewu Soale I, held a grand durbar at Damongo to highlight the massive impact of President Akufo-Addo, who was in the area for a farewell tour.

In a speech at the event, Yagbonwura Bikunuto Jewu expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the people of Dagbon, praising President Akufo-Addo for the significant developments the area experienced under his leadership.

Yagbonwura emphasized that the creation of the Savannah Region and the resolution of the long-standing chieftaincy dispute in the area marked historic milestones in Gonjaland’s history, achievements he attributed to President Akufo-Addo.

He further highlighted that the region has seen tremendous progress in key areas such as education, healthcare, agriculture, and road infrastructure, greatly improving the lives of the people.
President Akufo-Addo’s farewell speech
In his farewell speech, President Akufo-Addo expressed deep gratitude to the people of Gonjaland and all Ghanaians for their unwavering support during his presidency. He acknowledged the collaborative efforts that brought peace and development to Dagbon, including the role of key traditional leaders like Yagbonwura, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and Nayiri Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga.
