President Akufo-Addo inaugurates 4 hospitals in Ashanti Region

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has commissioned four new hospitals in the Ashanti Region, urging Ghanaians to retain the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to sustain the significant investments made in the health sector.
Speaking at Sabronum in the Ahafo Ano South East District, where one of the facilities was commissioned, the President emphasized the need for continuity to protect the gains achieved under his administration’s health initiatives.

Hospitals part of nationwide health investment
The commissioned hospitals are located in Sabronum, Drobonso in the Sekyere Afram Plains District, Twedie in the Atwima Kwanwoma District, and Suame in the Suame Municipality. These are part of a 12-hospital project being executed by VAMED Engineering GmbH of Austria, a global leader in healthcare facility construction.
The government secured funding for these projects in 2020 through Erste Group Bank AG and Ceska Sporitelna a.s., aiming to enhance healthcare access nationwide.
President Akufo-Addo noted that the hospitals reflect the NPP’s commitment to prioritizing the health of citizens.
“This is the biggest and most ambitious infrastructural development in the health sector under the Agenda 111 initiative,” he stated.

Continuity critical for Agenda 111 success
The President highlighted the pivotal role of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice-President and NPP flagbearer, in conceptualizing and advancing the Agenda 111 initiative. He urged the public to vote for Dr. Bawumia to ensure the initiative’s completion.
“We need a trustworthy leader with the desire and vision to continue these investments. Dr. Bawumia is in the best position to see these projects through,” he said.
“Let us not make the mistake of bringing in someone who does not believe in this vision, risking its truncation.”

Ashanti region as a health development hub
The Ashanti Region has benefited significantly from the government’s health initiatives, with 19 hospitals under Agenda 111 being constructed in addition to the four VAMED projects.
Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensah lauded the President for what he described as “unprecedented” health interventions in the region during the Fourth Republic.
He urged residents, particularly those in the Ahafo Ano enclave, to reward the NPP’s efforts with a decisive vote in the 2024 elections.

Transforming healthcare accessibility
President Akufo-Addo reiterated his administration’s dedication to improving healthcare delivery by bringing quality services closer to Ghanaians. He emphasized that these investments were designed to make healthcare accessible to every Ghanaian, irrespective of location.
The newly commissioned hospitals are equipped with modern facilities to provide comprehensive healthcare services, marking a significant step toward achieving universal health coverage in Ghana.
