New ECG MD tours operational areas

Ing. Kwame Kpekpena, the newly appointed Acting Managing Director (Ag. MD) of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), is embarking on an official tour of all ECG operational areas to interact and familiarise himself with grassroots staff.
The tour is also aimed at providing an opportunity for the new MD to share his visions and goals with staff and management across all the ten regions and other operational divisions of the company.
Ing. Kpekpena together with some Directors of ECG are expected to start their journey on Monday, March 10th, 2025, by visiting the Accra East region, including the Accra division of Subtransmission (Sub-T) and the Accra West Region.
The itinerary will also include subsequent visits to the Central, Volta, Eastern, Western, Tema, Ashanti East, Ashanti South, and Ashanti West regions, alongside divisions such as Sub-T Ashanti, the Project Office, Materials Depot, Training Centre, Head Office, SU Tower, and Legon Workshop.
During a staff durbar at the Accra East region on March, Ing. Kpekpena expressed his gratitude to the staff for their support of his appointment and highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts between management and staff to elevate ECG to a leader in electricity distribution.
He emphasized four key principles that will underpin his administration: financial prudence, workplace discipline, open communication, and a system of rewards and sanctions.
Additionally, he mentioned that his leadership will focus on four thematic.
These are; commercial operations, financial management, network operations, and technology development.
The Ag. MD reassured that “there are already established expert teams in place to oversee these areas and implement strategies geared towards measurable outcomes”.
He therefore called on all staff to commit to maintaining discipline and financial prudence to ensure the sustainability of ECG’s operations in Ghana.
The Management of the Volta Regional Directorate of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has paid a working visit to communities affected by tidal waves to assess the impact on electricity supply.
The management conducted on-site visit to areas, including Agavedzi, Amutinu, Salakope, Fuveme, Kpokporgbor, and Agorkedzi.
Ms. Christina Jatoe-Kaleo, Regional General Manager of ECG, who led the team, briefing the Ghana News Agency, said the team assessed the situation regarding electricity supply and the installation of infrastructure in the impacted areas.
Ms. Jatoe-Kaleo highlighted the commitment of ECG engineers, who were conducting feasibility studies and to evaluate steps for relocating installations, in ensuring that power supply could be both improved and sustained in these communities.
The Regional Engineer, Mr Godfred Awuku indicated that while five electricity poles suffered damages due to the recent tidal disaster, relocating them would necessitate the installation of a total of 12 new poles, at the cost of GH₵105,591.72, to bring supplies to affected communities.
“This initiative is critical for reinstating reliable power access to the affected areas in the future,” he added.
Assuring the residents of swift measures, the Denu District Manager Mr. Timothy Affrim, stated, “We are dedicated to ensuring that these communities will experience uninterrupted power supply as we undertake these essential improvements.”
