Keed Ghana Limited (KGL) has made significant contributions to the National Lottery Authority (NLA) over the past four years, totaling GH₵301 million (GH₵301,025,000).
The annual contributions from KGL to the NLA are as follows: GH₵20 million in 2020, GH₵25.1 million (GH₵25,125,000) in 2021, GH₵50 million in 2022, GH₵88.3 million in 2023, and GH₵117.6 million to date.
KGL Group entered into a 10-year partnership agreement with the NLA in January 2022, granting the company the sole license to operate the NLA’s 5/90 online game as a collaborator.
Prior to this, in November 2019, KGL Group, through its subsidiaries KGL Technology and KEED, secured a provisional license from the NLA to develop a digital solution for the 5/90 game, allowing it to operate as an online lottery game on a pilot basis for two years.
The initial 2019 agreement faced criticism, with some labeling it unfavorable.
However, upon assuming office as the Director General of the NLA, Samuel Awuku reviewed the deal.
Under his leadership, KGL’s contributions increased significantly, moving from GH₵25.1 million in 2021 to much higher figures in subsequent years.
Mr. Awuku emphasized that the KGL agreement has been highly beneficial for the NLA, especially considering that the company’s earnings from operations in Nigeria and Ivory Coast were less than what it paid to the NLA on behalf of these two countries.
He added that without the contract with KGL, the NLA’s financial turnaround would have been more challenging to achieve.
