In an emotional and determined declaration, 29-year-old Ghanaian woman, Karen Baaba Sam, has vowed to do everything within her power to secure custody of her 5-year-old daughter. Calling her child her “pride,” Ms. Sam affirmed her commitment to ensuring that she grows up in a nurturing environment under her care.
Baaba Sam, who is currently embroiled in a bitter custody battle with her ex-husband, real estate developer Nana Kwadwo Adjei, has publicly spoken out about her ordeal.
She recounted her challenging past and the difficulties she faced in her previous relationship, but emphasized that her sole focus now is on her daughter’s well-being.
A mother’s determination
Reflecting on her life’s journey, Ms. Sam admitted that while she may have made some poor choices in the past, she is determined to provide her daughter with the best care possible.
“I have a lot of ambitions in this life, and I believe that through the Grace of God, I will be able to achieve them all. However, my daughter is a gift from God, and she will remain my topmost priority.
“Having her by my side is not negotiable. I will do everything within my means and power to have her,” she passionately stated.
Ms. Sam also acknowledged that her own upbringing may not have been ideal, but she is resolved to break any negative cycles by giving her daughter a safe and loving home.
Allegations of media manipulation
Addressing recent media reports that claim she has refused to comply with a court order regarding her daughter, Ms. Sam accused her ex-husband of giving certain media outlets inaccurate information to tarnish her image.
“Those publications do not bother me at all. When I see or read them, they only motivate me to fight even harder for full custody of my daughter and to give her the best care any mother would give to her own child,” she said.
She asserted that her ex-husband’s attempts to sway public opinion against her would not succeed.
Confidence in the judiciary
Ms. Sam expressed her faith in Ghana’s judicial system and the leadership of the Chief Justice, whom she described as a “real mother.”
She is optimistic that a fair and impartial judge will be appointed to handle her case without external influence.
“My lawyers have filed various processes in court, and I have all the confidence in the judiciary. I know a good judge will be appointed to hear the case and adjudicate it to its logical conclusion,” Ms Sam further stated.
As the custody battle continues to unfold, Ms. Sam remains unwavering in her quest to secure her daughter’s future.
Her resolve serves as a testament to the lengths a mother is willing to go to protect and nurture her child, regardless of the obstacles she faces.
