The Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition (GNECC) has welcomed the reinstatement of Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) in public schools, as announced by the Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu.
The coalition says it views this initiative as a crucial step toward fostering collaboration between parents and educators, ultimately enhancing student learning outcomes nationwide.
According to GNECC, in a statement, the reintroduction of PTAs will encourage community involvement in education, addressing key issues such as infrastructure development, student discipline, and academic performance.
The organization asserts that parental participation is vital in shaping educational policies and ensuring that schools provide quality learning environments for students.
While commending the government’s decision, GNECC has urged the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service (GES) to develop inclusive and transparent operational guidelines for PTAs.
The coalition noted the importance of collaboration among parents, teachers, and school administrators in creating a framework that prioritizes student welfare.
Furthermore, GNECC called for continuous dialogue between the Ministry of Education and PTAs to address governance and financial management concerns.
The coalition stressed that PTAs should function as partners in education rather than as competitors to school management.
In light of these developments, GNECC reaffirmed its commitment to advocating or policies that ensure equitable access to quality education for f all Ghanaian children.
The coalition expressed its willingness to engage with the Ministry and other stakeholders to support this vital process.
