Board Chairman of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has assured the public that the resignation of ECG’s Managing Director, Samuel Dubik Mahama, will not lead to a resurgence of intermittent power outages, commonly known as “dumsor.”
Resignation accepted, acting MD appointed
At a press conference following an emergency board meeting, Afenyo-Markin confirmed that the board had accepted Mr. Mahama’s resignation.
He also announced the appointment of the former Managing Director in charge of Commercial Services as the new Acting Managing Director, pending government approval.
Assurance of uninterrupted power supply
Afenyo-Markin addressed concerns over the impact of leadership changes on the country’s power supply.
“The fact that we have had changes in management does not mean that we’re going to have interrupted power supply.
The entire system of the company is in place, and the company will continue to provide the essential services that it provides for the country,” he reassured.
Commitment to operational efficiency
The ECG board chairman emphasized the board’s commitment to operational efficiency, stating, “The only way to ensure operational efficiency at ECG is to have reforms.”
He further assured that ECG, under the new management, will remain focused on delivering reliable service.
