President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Brigadier General Glover Ashong Annan as the new Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
A statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, confirmed the appointment, emphasizing the government’s commitment to improving revenue mobilization and economic stability.
A Seasoned military officer takes charge
Brig. Gen. Annan, a highly respected officer of the Ghana Army, steps into the role with a mandate to reset the Customs Division and enhance the GRA’s ability to meet its revenue targets.
His appointment aligns with the government’s broader efforts to stabilize and revamp Ghana’s economy.
Before his new assignment, Brig. Gen. Annan served as the Presidential Security Coordinator, where he gained extensive experience in security, administration, and strategic leadership.
His background is expected to bring discipline and efficiency to the Customs Division.

Following the announcement, President Mahama expressed his appreciation for the outgoing Commissioner, Brigadier General Ziblim Ayorrogo, acknowledging his dedication and contributions to the Customs Division and the nation.
With Brig. Gen. Annan at the helm, expectations are high for reforms and enhanced performance within the Customs Division as Ghana continues its drive toward economic recovery.
