Real Madrid has confirmed the departure of head coach Xabi Alonso after a seven-month spell in charge, ending one of the club’s shortest managerial tenures in recent years.

The decision comes following a period marked by mixed results, rising pressure, and internal uncertainty about the team’s long-term direction.

Alonso, who arrived with high expectations due to his impressive work at Bayer Leverkusen, was seen as a fresh tactical mind poised to lead Real Madrid through a new generation of players.

However, despite flashes of promise, his time at the Santiago Bernabéu was defined by inconsistency. A combination of injuries, tactical adjustments, and the intense expectations surrounding the club contributed to the uneven run of form.

During his seven months at the helm, Alonso oversaw both notable victories and unexpected setbacks. While he introduced a possession-driven style and placed emphasis on youth integration, critics argued that the team lacked rhythm in decisive moments.

Real Madrid’s struggles in key league fixtures and Champions League matches accelerated scrutiny on the young manager.

According to club sources, the decision to part ways was mutual. Alonso expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead one of the world’s most prestigious football institutions, noting that the experience had been “challenging but invaluable.”

Real Madrid, in turn, acknowledged his professionalism and commitment, praising his efforts despite the short tenure.

The club will now begin its search for a new head coach, with several names already being linked to the job. In the meantime, an interim manager is expected to be appointed to stabilize the squad as they navigate the remainder of the season.

Alonso’s departure marks yet another chapter in Real Madrid’s fast-moving managerial history — a reminder of the immense pressure and expectations that come with leading the Spanish giants.

Whether his exit will spark a new period of stability or further transition remains to be seen.
