The Ghana Air Traffic Safety Electronics Association (GhATSEA) has announced the suspension of its planned nationwide strike, which was scheduled to commence on Thursday, October 30, 2025.

In a statement signed by its President, Engr. David Annan Mensah, the association explained that the decision followed productive discussions with the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) governing board and management to address long-standing concerns about poor welfare conditions and management inaction.

“Following constructive engagement with the GCAA governing board and management, we have decided to suspend our planned strike action, which was scheduled to take effect from 30th October 2025,” the statement read.

GhATSEA extended its appreciation to all parties who participated in the negotiations, expressing hope that the ongoing dialogue will bring a lasting solution to the unresolved issues.

“We appreciate the efforts made by all stakeholders during the discussions and remain optimistic that the ongoing engagements will lead to a lasting resolution of all outstanding issues,” the statement added.

The association had previously threatened an indefinite nationwide strike over grievances including poor welfare conditions, inequitable job placements, unfair salary structures, and unresolved welfare concerns spanning more than 15 years.

Reassuring the public, GhATSEA emphasized its dedication to maintaining safety and professionalism in the delivery of air navigation services across Ghana.

“We remain steadfast in our commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety and professionalism in the provision of air navigation services across the country,” it stated.

The association also lauded the efforts of Rev. Stephen Wilfred Arthur, Acting Director-General of the GCAA, and Theophilus Aryee Ago, Acting Deputy Director-General (Technical), for their leadership and commitment during the negotiations.

Additionally, GhATSEA expressed gratitude to the media and the public for their patience and understanding throughout the period of industrial tension and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the continued safe and efficient management of Ghana’s airspace.
