Two separate road accidents were reported on Friday, October 24, and Saturday, October 25, 2025, along the Kumasi–Accra Highway and the Tatale–Zabzugu road, resulting in multiple injuries and loss of lives.
According to reports, the first accident occurred on Friday and claimed three lives while leaving more than ten others injured.
The crash happened when a Kia truck with registration number GW-5828-17, carrying traders returning from the Kukpalgu market, collided with a stationary Motorking tricycle that had broken down and been left on the road.
Eyewitnesses said the bright lights from an oncoming vehicle from the Zabzugu direction impaired the Kia driver’s visibility, causing him to crash into the stationary tricycle.
Two people reportedly died on the spot, while a third victim died upon arrival at the Tatale District Hospital.
Over ten others who sustained injuries are receiving treatment at the same facility. The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the hospital morgue.
In a separate incident, at least fourteen people were seriously injured following a crash involving a Sprinter bus and a stationary tipper truck at Atwedie near Konongo on the Kumasi–Accra Highway.
The accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, October 25, 2025, when the Sprinter bus, with registration number GR 6626-22, reportedly rammed into the stationary truck while negotiating a curve.
Assembly Member for the Atwedie Electoral Area, Patrick Antwi Kakari, told journalists that it took the intervention of firefighters to rescue trapped passengers from the wreckage.
The victims were later rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The Ghana Police Service has urged drivers to observe speed limits, conduct regular vehicle maintenance, and exercise caution—especially during weekends when traffic volumes are typically higher.
The recent incidents have added to growing concerns over the increasing rate of road traffic accidents across the country.
The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) has reiterated its call for stricter enforcement of road safety regulations and enhanced public education to help curb such tragedies.
