A Country Called Ghana’ movie premiere attracts huge crowd

The National Theatre was filled to capacity as audiences were enthralled by the much-anticipated Ghana-Nigeria film collaboration, “A Country Called Ghana.”
The premiere did not disappoint, offering a vibrant celebration of Ghanaian culture and attracting a diverse crowd, including tourists, musicians, politicians, and film industry professionals.
The film features famed Ghanaian actor Kwadwo Nkansah Lilwin in one of the lead roles, with a strong supporting cast of prominent Nigerian actors Ramsey Nouah, Charles Awurum, and Victor Osuagwu, popularly known as ‘Awilo Sharp Sharp,’ alongside Paa George and Sweet Mimi.
“A Country Called Ghana” emphasizes the importance of preserving Ghanaian cultural artefacts and resisting the temptation to sell them, no matter the offer.
The two-hour film blends this serious cultural message with humor, highlighted by Lilwin’s entertaining use of the English language.
The premiere was not just about the film; it was also a lively event with post-screening musical performances by artists such as Guru, DopeNation, and Lilwin, adding to the evening’s excitement.
The event brought together a dazzling array of Ghanaian and Nigerian celebrities, including Medikal, Kalybos, Guru, and Akrobeto.
Other well-known personalities such as Ahuofe Patri, David Osei, D Cryme, and Kofi Akpaloo, the leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), also graced the occasion.
The second premiere of “A Country Called Ghana” is set for May 25 at the KNUST CCB Auditorium in Kumasi, followed by a final showing at the Eubsett Hotel in Sunyani on June 1, 2024.
