Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr Johnson Pandit Asiama, has designated Second Deputy Governor Matilda Asante-Asiedu as his authorised representative on the Board of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod).

The appointment, which became effective on Monday, May 11, 2026, gives Mrs Asante-Asiedu the authority to attend and fully participate in GoldBod Board meetings on behalf of the Governor.

Dr Asiama, in a letter communicating the appointment, said the Second Deputy Governor had been nominated to represent his interests and participate in the Board’s deliberations.

Mrs Asante-Asiedu will also exercise the rights and responsibilities that the Governor holds as a member of the GoldBod Board.

“I hereby appoint Mrs. Matilda Asante-Asiedu, Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, as my authorised representative to attend and fully participate in all GoldBod Board Meetings on my behalf, effective Monday, May 11, 2026,” the letter read in part.

The Governor said the decision was aimed at ensuring effective representation of his interests in the Board’s work and deliberations.

“Mrs. Asante-Asiedu is duly nominated to represent my interests, contribute to deliberations, and exercise all rights and responsibilities vested in me as a member of the Board,” the letter added.

With the appointment, Mrs Asante-Asiedu will represent Dr Asiama in GoldBod Board meetings and participate in discussions and other official proceedings on his behalf.

Her mandate covers the full range of rights and responsibilities attached to the Governor’s position as a member of the Board.

The arrangement provides for the Governor’s continued representation on the GoldBod Board through the Second Deputy Governor, while maintaining his interests and participation in the Board’s activities.
