NPP decides: Here’s the full list of candidates and ballot positions

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has completed balloting for candidates contesting its 2026 National Officers’ Elections, with aspirants assigned their respective positions on the ballot paper ahead of the October 3, 2026 polls.

The balloting exercise was held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the party’s headquarters at Asylum Down in Accra.

The elections will take place in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region as the NPP elects a new team of national officers to lead the party ahead of the 2028 general elections. The party had earlier cleared 47 aspirants to contest nine national executive positions.

Below is the list of candidates and their ballot positions.

National Chairman

1. John Boadu — No. 1
2. Sammy Crabbe — No. 2
3. Paul Afoko — No. 3
4. Boakye Agyarko — No. 4

The chairmanship race features four candidates following the withdrawal of former Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.

National Vice-Chairperson

1. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid — No. 1
2. Kojo Fosu Boadu — No. 2
3. George Kwabena Abankwah Yeboah — No. 3
4. Richard Ahiagbah — No. 4
5. Alhaji Masawudu Osman — No. 5
6. Richard Oti Aboagye — No. 6
7. Abena Pokua Boaitey Amoah — No. 7
8. Yaa Amponsah Frimpong — No. 8
9. Henry Nana Boakye — No. 9
10. Horma Akesie Miezah — No. 10
11. Samuel Pyne — No. 11
12. Nana Akomea — No. 12
13. Bright Esselfie Kumi — No. 13

The Vice-Chairperson contest has the largest field, with 13 candidates competing for the position. The first three successful candidates will serve as First, Second and Third Vice-Chairpersons.

General Secretary

3. Justin Frimpong Kodua — No. 3
4. Dr Charles Dwamena — No. 4

Incumbent General Secretary Justin Kodua is seeking another term in office.

National Treasurer

1. Hajia Ruka Ahmed — No. 1
2. Alfred Kojo Thompson — No. 2
3. Tahiru Moomen — No. 3
4. Collins Nuntwiri Nuamah — No. 4

National Organiser

The National Organiser race has seven candidates following the withdrawal of Salam Mustapha.

2. Daniel Agyenim Boateng — No. 2
3. Archibald Gamor Korletey — No. 3
4. Nana Kwadjo Agyei Yeboah — No. 4
5. Ali Maiga Halidu — No. 5
6. Emmanuel Korsi Bodja — No. 6
7. Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover — No. 7

Titus Glover picked the seventh position, while Kwame Prempeh emerged with the first position in the balloting.

National Youth Organiser

The Women’s Organiser race was reduced to two candidates after Perpetual Ekua Lomokie Akwada did not appear on the final ballot list.

National Nasara Organiser

3. Awal Mohammed — No. 3

National Communications Director

1. Dennis Miracles Aboagye

Dennis Miracles Aboagye is the sole candidate listed for the National Communications Director position following the withdrawal of Evans Kodo.

October 3 election

The NPP’s National Officers’ Elections are scheduled for October 3, 2026, in Kumasi, Ashanti Region. The elections are expected to produce a new national leadership team as the party reorganises ahead of the 2028 general election.

The electoral college comprises members of the NPP National Council, National Executive Committee, Regional Executive Committees, Constituency Executive Committees and External Branch Executive Committees. The elections will be organised by the party’s National Elections Committee under the supervision of the Electoral Commission.
