Narcotics concealed in sacks

According to a statement issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Upper East Regional Police Command and signed by Chief Inspector Abdul-Raman Sumaila, the operation led to the discovery of a large quantity of suspected narcotic substances concealed in sacks.

Preliminary investigations, the Police said, revealed that the suspected Indian hemp was allegedly being cultivated alongside millet and maize to conceal the farms and avoid detection.

The suspects are also believed to be major suppliers of narcotic drugs to several drug dealers operating across the Upper East Region, according to the Police.

The arrests form part of ongoing efforts by the Regional Police Command to dismantle the cultivation, distribution and supply networks contributing to the circulation of narcotic drugs in the region.
