National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of National First Vice-Chairman of the party.

In a formal declaration addressed to party executives, elders, patrons and members, Nana B said his decision was driven by “gratitude and a deep sense of duty” after 26 years of active service to the NPP.

He said the experience he had acquired over the years had equipped him to help strengthen the party’s organisational structures, reconnect with its grassroots and contribute to efforts to return the NPP to power in the 2028 general elections.

“By the grace of God, and after twenty-six years of active service to our party, I believe the experience and lessons I have gained have prepared me to help strengthen our party structures, reconnect with our grassroots and contribute meaningfully to our collective mission of returning the New Patriotic Party to government in 2028,” he stated.

Nana B highlighted his long record of service across various levels of the party, beginning from the grassroots.

He disclosed that he twice served as a Polling Station Chairman in both the Tarkwa-Nsuaem and Oforikrom constituencies and was also a member of the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency Campaign Team as well as Communications Officer for the Oforikrom Constituency.

His political career also saw him rise through the ranks of the party’s youth structures.

He served as TESCON President at both the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), before becoming Director of Events and Programmes of the National Youth Wing and later National Youth Organiser of the NPP.

At the national level, Nana B pointed to his extensive involvement in the party’s strategic and campaign activities.

These include serving as a member of the 2016 Ashanti Regional Campaign Team, the National Communications Team, the 2020 Presidential Election Petition Legal Team, and both the 2020 and 2024 National Campaign Teams.

He also served as Vice Chairman of the Planning Committee for the 2025 National Delegates Conference and is currently a member of the party’s National Steering Committee, National Executive Committee and National Council.

Nana B said his aspiration to become National First Vice-Chairman was rooted in the conviction that the NPP could regain power through unity, strong grassroots mobilisation and renewed determination.

“My aspiration is anchored on the belief that with unity of purpose and renewed determination, we can reposition our party for victory in 2028,” he said.

He appealed to party faithful to support his candidature, while seeking their prayers and guidance throughout the campaign.

“I respectfully and humbly seek your prayers, guidance and support as we embark on this important journey together,” he stated.

His declaration adds to the growing contest for key national executive positions as the opposition NPP begins preparations to elect new leaders to spearhead its rebuilding efforts ahead of the 2028 general elections.
