List of hospitals supported by MahamaCares

Access to quality healthcare remains one of the most important needs for individuals and families across Ghana. Through the MahamaCares initiative, several hospitals and healthcare facilities have received support aimed at improving medical services, expanding healthcare access, and enhancing patient care nationwide.

MahamaCares focuses on strengthening healthcare delivery by partnering with hospitals that provide essential medical services, including emergency care, maternal healthcare, specialist treatment, diagnostics, and community health programs.

The initiative seeks to ensure that more Ghanaians can receive affordable and reliable healthcare regardless of their location.

The Ghana Medical Trust Fund, also known as The MahamaCares, a landmark initiative aimed at providing financial assistance to individuals living with chronic diseases across the country.

The Fund seeks to cover the cost of care and medication for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) not currently included under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), thereby complementing it by supporting critical aspects of these conditions.

Additionally, the Fund will invest in health infrastructure, medical equipment, specialist training, and research to enhance access to quality healthcare.

The Administrator of MahamaCares, Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, has announced a list of health facilities across the country that have been enrolled in the programme and are currently providing services to Ghanaians.

Speaking during the Government’s Accountability Series on Monday, May 11, 2026, Obuobia explained that the Trust Fund was established with a clear mandate to mobilise resources to finance and support specialised medical care for Ghanaians battling chronic illnesses, including cancer and kidney disease.
