Leading telecommunications company MTN Ghana has reaffirmed its growing commitment to customer empowerment, extending its value proposition beyond traditional voice and data services as it hosted the second edition of its Masterclass Series in Accra under the theme “Wealth and Wellbeing – Building Sustainable Success.”

The initiative forms part of MTN Ghana’s broader strategy to position itself not only as a connectivity provider, but also as a partner in financial literacy, personal development, and sustainable wealth creation for its customers.

The Masterclass Series brought together financial experts, medical professionals, psychologists, and industry leaders to explore the intersection between wealth, wellbeing, and long-term success.

MTN’s customer empowerment agenda

Speaking to The Newscenta in an interview on the sidelines of the event, Nana Asantewaa Amegashie, General Manager for Consumer Marketing at MTN Ghana, said the programme reflects the company’s long-term commitment to adding value beyond telecommunications.

“We are building tools for life beyond telecom services”

“This is not the first time we are organising the MTN Masterclass Series. The maiden edition was held in October last year under the theme ‘Digital for Good’. Today’s session is the second, and it focuses on wealth and wellness,” she said.

She explained that the initiative is designed as a practical learning platform for customers to improve life outcomes.

“The whole idea is to create a platform for our customers, beyond connectivity, to equip them with tools that will help them plan their lives, live well, build wealth and achieve a sustainable, successful future,” she added.

Hybrid model expands access and inclusion

Madam Amegashie noted that while attendance at the physical event was limited to invited participants to ensure a premium experience, MTN Ghana deliberately expanded access through digital platforms.

“We are inviting a select number of participants physically, so it is a premium platform. However, it is also hybrid. Customers are joining us online via our Facebook and YouTube channels, and we will rebroadcast highlights on our social media platforms so more people can benefit,” she said.

She further disclosed that customer feedback plays a central role in shaping the initiative.

“The topics are informed by customer insights. This helps us improve product development and design digital tools that will help customers improve their lives. So, it benefits both the business and our customers,” she explained.

Discipline, purpose and wellbeing take centre stage

Delivering a keynote on sustainable wealth creation, Darwin Mireku, Head of Strategy and Enablement at Stanbic Bank Ghana, stressed that true success must go beyond outward appearance and be anchored in discipline and purpose.

“Success that cannot be explained cannot be sustained,” he said, adding that long-term prosperity is measured by legacy rather than visible affluence.

He outlined three pillars of sustainable wealth: clarity of purpose, risk-aware decision-making, and long-term planning.

“These are what separate wealth that lasts from wealth that is merely impressive,” he noted.

Mr Mireku also cautioned against neglecting personal wellbeing in the pursuit of financial success.

“You cannot ignore yourself. When wellbeing is distorted, effectiveness erodes,” he said, urging participants to treat physical and mental health as essential components of productivity and leadership.

Discipline and patience key to financial stability

Providing practical investment guidance, Nana Wiafe Boamah, Chief Investment Officer at Stanbic Investment Management Services, emphasised that wealth creation is driven by behaviour, discipline, and informed choices.

He defined wealth as the ability to maintain control over financial resources throughout one’s lifetime.

He advised participants to safeguard their earning capacity through insurance and continuous skills development, while progressively converting income into diversified investments.

“Making money and staying wealthy is behavioural. Do not chase trends,” he cautioned.

Mental health and holistic wellbeing in focus

Isaac Newman Arthur, Medical Director and Clinical Psychologist at the University of Professional Studies Accra, highlighted the need for a more integrated approach to wellbeing.

He noted that while many organisations have health policies, true wellbeing must extend beyond physical fitness to include mental, social, and spiritual dimensions.

He urged participants to adopt a holistic mindset in planning productivity and personal success.

Ethics and integrity in wealth creation

Adding a moral dimension to the discussions, playwright and CEO of Roverman Productions, Uncle Ebo Whyte, cautioned against unethical means of acquiring wealth.

“Wealth created out of dishonesty cannot be sustained or transferred to future generations,” he said.

He criticised growing social attitudes that normalise financial irresponsibility, including loan defaults.

“People think they are smart, but they are not,” he warned, adding that wealth built on dishonesty ultimately collapses.

Beyond Telecommunications

The Masterclass Series reflects MTN Ghana’s evolving identity as more than a telecommunications operator, but as a platform for social and economic empowerment.

Through initiatives like this, MTN Ghana continues to integrate financial literacy, wellness education, and digital access into its customer engagement strategy—reinforcing its role in shaping conversations around sustainable success in Ghana’s rapidly changing economy.
