Mr. Ibrahim Mahama, Chief Executive Officer of Engineers & Planners Company Limited (E&P), has described the recently secured US$205 million credit facility as a major milestone in the company’s growth journey as a proudly Ghanaian enterprise.
The facility, arranged by Stanbic Bank Ghana Ltd in collaboration with Standard Bank of South Africa, also involved Ecobank Ghana PLC and Absa Bank Ghana Ltd.
It is structured over five years in two tranches of US$110 million and US$95 million and is intended to support E&P’s ongoing contract mining operations, particularly its long-term engagement with Gold Fields Ghana Limited.
Speaking at the signing ceremony in Accra, Mr. Mahama emphasised the impact of the financing on both the company and the broader economy.
“It strengthens our capacity to deliver on large-scale mining contracts to the highest global standards, while deepening local participation in the sector. We are grateful to Stanbic Bank, Standard Bank, and our lending partners for their confidence in our vision and for supporting indigenous excellence,” he said.
The CEO noted that the facility would bolster job creation, enhance local involvement in mining, stimulate supply chain activity, and contribute to foreign exchange inflows, reinforcing E&P’s role as a catalyst for economic development.
Stanbic Bank Ghana highlighted that the US$205 million facility adds to over US$450 million in financing it has previously arranged for E&P, reflecting a longstanding partnership built on trust and shared ambition. Ecobank Ghana and Absa Bank also played key roles, demonstrating strong collaboration within the banking sector to mobilise capital at scale.
With more than 25 years of operational experience and a workforce exceeding 4,000 employees, E&P plans to use the funds to strengthen its capacity to execute large-scale hard-rock mining contracts and invest in operational efficiencies.
Mr. Kwamina Asomaning, Chief Executive of Stanbic Bank Ghana, said the transaction reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to supporting indigenous enterprises operating at the global level.
“By structuring and mobilising this US$205 million facility, we are not only enabling Engineers & Planners to scale its operations but also reinforcing Stanbic Bank’s role as a long-term partner in advancing localisation, strengthening Ghana’s mining value chain, and driving sustainable growth across the broader economy,” he noted.
The arrangement underscores the increasing collaboration between local and regional banks to mobilise substantial financing, supporting the expansion of Ghanaian companies and the development of strategic sectors, particularly mining, which remains central to the country’s economic growth.
