The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) will officially roll out the Automated Fire Safety Compliance System (AFCAS), a major digital platform intended to modernise fire safety regulation and improve service delivery across the country.

The Service says the initiative is part of a wider partnership to strengthen regulatory oversight while making compliance procedures more accessible and transparent.

AFCAS is expected to replace lengthy paper-based processes with a streamlined, technology-driven platform that simplifies fire safety checks for homes, shops, factories, offices and public buildings.

When fully operational, the system will serve as the main platform for public interaction with the GNFS, making compliance faster, easier to track and more transparent. It will also help businesses, property owners, and developers better understand fire safety requirements, reducing confusion and delays in meeting standards.

The digital platform will enable more efficient inspection scheduling, improve communication between applicants and the Fire Service, and support real-time monitoring of compliance. It is also expected to help identify potential fire risks early and support data-driven planning to prevent outbreaks nationwide.

Officials say automating the compliance process will minimise unfair practices by ensuring all applicants go through the same transparent procedures and standards, thereby strengthening public confidence in fire safety regulation.

The GNFS has urged the public, property owners and the business community to actively use the platform upon its launch, stressing that fire safety is a shared responsibility.

“GNFS is encouraging the public, property owners, and businesses to embrace and use AFCAS when it launches, emphasising that fire safety is everyone’s responsibility,” the statement read.
