Ghanaian dancehall star Charles Nii Armah Mensah, widely known as Shatta Wale, has filed a defamation lawsuit against social commentator Abubakar Ahmed, popularly called Blakk Rasta.

The suit, lodged on January 15, 2026, stems from a video Blakk Rasta published on December 15, 2025, titled “Shatta Wale, Self-Confessed King of Fraud.”

In his statement of claim, Shatta Wale argues that the comments made in the video were false, malicious, and deliberately intended to tarnish his reputation as a respected public figure and award-winning musician.

He asserts that Blakk Rasta’s statements portrayed him as dishonest, morally corrupt, and engaged in fraudulent conduct.

According to Shatta Wale, the video suggested he was a fraudster, linked him to individuals allegedly involved in fraud, and implied that he allowed proceeds of crime to pass through his bank accounts.

He maintains that the publication subjected him to ridicule, scandal, and public contempt, causing distress to his family, fans, business partners, and colleagues within the music industry.

Reliefs sought

Shatta Wale is seeking a declaration that the statements made in the video were defamatory, as well as an order compelling Blakk Rasta to permanently delete the video and all related content from every social media platform. He is also requesting an injunction to prevent further defamatory remarks.

Additionally, he wants the court to order a public retraction and an unqualified apology to be published on Blakk Rasta’s social media pages and in the Daily Graphic, Ghanaian Times, and Graphic Showbiz newspapers.

The dancehall artist is further demanding GH¢100 million in damages and associated costs.
