The management of Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School (PRESEC), Legon, has issued a strong rebuke of statements attributed to lawyer and media personality Serwaa Amihere, in which the institution was reportedly described as a “breeding ground for homosexuals” (LGBTQ).
The school called the remarks false, irresponsible and deeply offensive.
In a press release dated January 17, 2026, PRESEC said it had taken “serious note” of the comments, arguing that they unfairly malign students and damage the integrity of one of Ghana’s leading secondary schools.
“Management unequivocally condemns this statement,” the school said, describing the remarks as a harmful generalisation intended to stigmatise students.
The school underscored its identity as a Presbyterian mission institution with more than eight decades of history, firmly rooted in Christian doctrine and governed by both church values and the laws of the Republic.
Any suggestion that PRESEC promotes or tolerates conduct inconsistent with these foundations, it stressed, is a “gross misrepresentation” of its mission.
Highlighting its longstanding record of academic achievement and character formation, the school noted that accomplishments such as its repeated National Science and Maths Quiz victories reflect a culture of discipline, teamwork and leadership development.

Management further warned that comments of this nature are not merely false but potentially damaging, exposing students to undue ridicule and emotional distress while threatening the school’s reputation, built over decades of service to national development.
PRESEC expressed appreciation to parents, alumni, students and the general public for their support and reaffirmed its commitment to upholding its values and safeguarding student dignity.
The statement comes amid heightened public sensitivity around LGBTQI discussions in Ghana, following controversy surrounding an alleged teacher training manual on sexual orientation and gender identity.
Though the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service have distanced themselves from the document, the issue has intensified public debate.
Against this backdrop, PRESEC said it was necessary to clarify the facts and avoid being drawn into wider ideological disputes through what it considers defamatory commentary.
The school reiterated its focus on providing quality education, instilling discipline and shaping young men into principled leaders and responsible citizens.
