According to reports, the fire broke out at 12:30 am on Monday, December 22, 2025.

Despite the efforts of neighbours and emergency responders, the flames spread rapidly, engulfing the residential structure before help could contain it.

Residents described the scene as horrific, with smoke and fire consuming the house within minutes.

Efforts to rescue the family were hampered by the intensity of the blaze.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

According to the Assembly Member for Abuakwa Manhyia, Evans Opoku, the incident was reported to him shortly after power was restored to parts of the Ashanti Region following a temporary outage on Sunday evening.

Fire officers from the Nkawie and Twedie Fire stations were dispatched to the scene to bring the blaze under control.

Officials have called for calm and urged residents to be vigilant with electrical appliances and open flames, especially during the dry season when the risk of fire outbreaks increases.

Local leaders and community members have rallied to support the bereaved families, providing temporary shelter and essentials.

The tragedy has reignited conversations on fire safety and emergency preparedness in densely populated residential areas.

The Abuakwa Manhyia community remains in mourning as investigations continue, with many calling for stronger safety measures to prevent such heartbreaking incidents in the future.
