Former Member of Parliament for Adenta, Kojo Adu Asare, has stated that he is open to marrying Priscilla Ofori, commonly known as Odo Broni, the widow of the late legendary Ghanaian highlife musician Daddy Lumba.
During an interview on Accra-based Asempa FM on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, the former Adenta NDC MP openly shared his admiration for Odo Broni, praising her grace and striking beauty.
He disclosed that he is currently unmarried and would be willing to consider marriage after she completes the customary one-year widowhood rites, adding that Ghanaian customs must be respected regardless of personal feelings.
He further clarified that his remarks were not intended to trivialise the legacy of the late highlife icon, Daddy Lumba, whom he described as a national treasure whose impact on Ghanaian music remains unmatched.
He said “Odo Broni is an exceptionally beautiful woman. What draws me to her most is her calm and gentle demeanour. I would like to build a meaningful relationship with her after she completes her widowhood rites.
“This is not about having children together; rather, it is about helping to raise her six children and contributing to the preservation of Daddy Lumba’s legacy.”
The comments have sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some users praising the former MP for challenging societal norms around widowhood, while others questioned the appropriateness of making such a statement publicly, given Daddy Lumba’s iconic status.
Daddy Lumba, one of Ghana’s most celebrated musicians, passed away after decades of shaping the country’s music scene with timeless hits.
His influence continues to resonate across generations, making any discussion involving his family a subject of public interest.
Fans and admirers of Lumba travelled from across Ghana and abroad to pay their respects, underscoring the universal admiration for a man often regarded as one of the greatest highlife musicians of all time on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at the Heroes Park at Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
