The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two men in intelligence-led operations targeting the illegal possession of firearms, narcotic drugs and suspected stolen property, heightening concerns about the spread of weapons and drugs in parts of the capital.

The arrests followed a joint operation by the Accra Regional Police Command and the Police Intelligence Directorate on December 10, 2025.

One of the suspects, Suleiman Danjumah—also known as Solomon Addai and Innocent—had earlier been granted bail by the Adabraka District Court on November 25, 2025, in a separate case involving a Smith and Wesson pistol and 30 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

In a press release, the police said Danjumah was rearrested during a follow-up operation after intelligence indicated he was again in possession of an illegal firearms.

A search conducted at the time led to the recovery of an unregistered 9mm Parabellum Arcus 94 pistol.

Officers also retrieved several items from the suspect, including military uniforms and caps, a police-issued Huawei mobile phone, four other mobile phones, a shocker, a jackknife, 34 blisters of Tramadol 225mg and an unregistered jungle motorbike.

Preliminary checks confirmed that the police’s Huawei phone had been stolen from an officer.

Police said further investigations revealed that Danjumah admitted to dealing in narcotics around Las Vegas, Achimota.

He is also alleged to have fired warning shots during a confrontation with another suspected drug dealer, Mutala Mohammed, which triggered additional police action.

Mohammed was later arrested, and a search at his residence uncovered two parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, as well as 19 blisters of Tramadol 120mg, commonly referred to as “Red”.

During interrogation, the suspects named Usman Ali as the source of the firearm. Police said efforts were ongoing to locate and arrest him to aid investigations.

All suspects remain in police custody, assisting with investigations. The seized drugs and other items have been retained as exhibits and will be forwarded to the Police Forensic Science Laboratory for analysis.
