MobileMoney LTD (MML), the operator of MTN Mobile Money, has celebrated the resilience, ingenuity, and partnership-driven growth of Ghana’s fintech sector at a spectacular awards dinner in Accra, where leading institutions, technology firms, agents, merchants, developmental partners and regulators were recognised for their exceptional contributions to the digital finance ecosystem.

Held under the theme “The Power of Partnership and Service Excellence,” the 2025 Fintech Stakeholder Dinner & Awards Night brought together executives from the Bank of Ghana, partner banks, technology solution providers, fintech innovators, government agencies, mobile money agents, merchants and key industry influencers.

In his keynote address, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MobileMoney LTD, Shaibu Haruna, paid glowing tribute to industry partners, acknowledging them as the driving force behind Ghana’s fintech revolution.

Describing the night as both a celebration and a moment of reflection, he noted that mobile money had evolved dramatically in 16 years—from simple phone-based transfers to a sophisticated digital lifestyle platform powering payments, savings, credit, pensions, insurance, investments and enterprise solutions across the country.

“You are the architects of Ghana’s fintech revolution,” he told the gathering. “Each time we meet, it is a moment to appreciate the journey. Through our work, we are impacting lives and restoring dignity to Ghanaians. That is worth celebrating,” he stated.

Shaibu highlighted the critical role of partner banks whose liquidity and settlement infrastructure ensure seamless transaction flows. He also praised technology partners for building the robust digital framework that now processes more than twenty billion transactions daily.

He pointed out that fintech firms continue to design groundbreaking solutions that simplify the lives of customers, while mobile money agents—whom he called “the true connection between the physical and digital worlds”—have expanded financial inclusion to every corner of the nation.

Looking ahead, the CEO said MobileMoney LTD welcomed the evolving regulatory landscape, including upcoming digital lending frameworks, open banking reforms, virtual asset guidelines, and the government’s proposed AI-based revenue analytics system, all aimed at strengthening transparency, innovation, and ecosystem health.

He further noted that the night was dedicated to recognising excellence, announcing that twenty-two awards would be presented to partners whose innovations, customer service, industry leadership and operational performance stood out during the year.

Celebrating excellence across the ecosystem

The awards ceremony was the highlight of the night, with applause filling the hall as winners were announced across the financial services, technology, corporate, remittance, digital payments, merchandising, and media categories.

Each citation highlighted the specific contributions the partners made to the overall success of the Mobile Money ecosystem.

Fintech Service Provider Partner of the Year-Letshego

Letshego was honoured as Fintech Service Provider (FSP) Partner of the Year in the Lending category, receiving recognition for its exceptional collaboration, innovation and sustained commitment to advancing digital lending.

The citation acknowledged Letshego’s role in expanding financial access through reliable, customer-centric lending solutions while strengthening trust in digital credit services across the ecosystem.

Fintech Partner of the Year (lending)- Jumo

In the fintech lending category, Jumo was named Fintech Partner of the Year, celebrated for setting new benchmarks in digital credit innovation through advanced technology, seamless integration and data-driven offerings.

According to the citation, Jumo’s leadership had not only elevated customer experiences but also reinforced MoMo’s mission of promoting accessible and inclusive digital financial services.

Onafriq wins 2 awards

The night saw Onafriq sweep two major awards. The company won Remittance Partner of the Year (Most Performing) for its exceptional contribution to cross-border payments, particularly its consistent innovation and customer-focused enhancements that have strengthened remittance experiences for millions of Ghanaians.

Onafriq was also named Product of the Year in the General Payment category, with the citation praising a groundbreaking solution that transformed user experience, accelerated adoption and advanced MoMo’s digital lifestyle agenda.

Overall Best Fintech Partner- Hubtel

Hubtel, one of Ghana’s leading fintech giants, received one of the ceremony’s most prestigious honours—the Overall Best Fintech Partner Award.

Its citation applauded the company’s exceptional innovation, reliability and technical expertise, noting that its data-driven solutions, industry compliance and customer-focused lending tools had expanded access to credit and set a new benchmark for digital financial excellence.

“Tonight, we celebrate a true industry leader driving trust, progress and sustainable growth,” the citation read.

Most Innovative FinTech Partner- Jumo

Another standout recognition went to Jumo, which was awarded Most Innovative FinTech Partner.

Their pioneering work in simplifying cross-border financial interactions across Africa was highlighted, alongside enhancements to security, efficiency and regional market access.

The citation emphasised that Jumo’s technology was shaping the future of seamless regional trade and digital connectivity.

FinTech Partner of the Year (Payments)- Blue Penguin

Blue Penguin emerged as FinTech Partner of the Year – Payments, honoured for its outstanding contribution to building a robust, secure and accessible digital payments ecosystem.

With its performance accelerating the adoption of digital payments nationwide, the citation noted that Blue Penguin had improved payment reliability and enhanced customer experience at scale.

State-Owned Enterprise Partner of the Year-Ghana Water

Among state entities, the State-Owned Enterprise Partner of the Year Award went to the Ghana Water Company Limited.

Their innovation-driven collaboration and commitment to productive partnerships were hailed as a remarkable benchmark within the ecosystem.

Developmental Partner of the Year- CAMFED

CAMFED received the prestigious Developmental Partner of the Year Award, with its citation highlighting the organisation’s pioneering use of secure digital channels to improve efficiency, transparency and reach in developmental disbursements.

CAMFED’s digital-first approach has empowered communities nationwide and expanded access for countless beneficiaries.

FMCG Partner of the Year- Nestlé

Nestlé Ghana was honoured as Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) Partner of the Year for delivering innovative financial solutions tailored to Fast-Moving Consumer Goods businesses while FMCG distributor award went to Kumasi Continental Supermarket Limited.

Their success in driving adoption and operational excellence in the FMCG sector distinguished them as an outstanding partner.

Overall Best Bank Partner-First Atlantic Bank

The banking category recognised First Atlantic Bank as Overall Best Bank Partner. The bank’s citation praised its exceptional performance, technical expertise and unwavering commitment to innovation.

It was acknowledged for delivering cutting-edge, reliable and secure digital finance solutions while upholding full regulatory compliance and elevating industry standards.

Corporate Partner of the Year-KGL Technologies

Corporate excellence was celebrated with KGL Technologies winning Corporate Partner of the Year, recognised for remarkable contributions achieved through strategic collaboration and forward-thinking innovation.

Technology Partner of the Year- Comviva

In the technology category, Comviva was named Technology Partner of the Year, celebrated for delivering cutting-edge technological solutions and driving cross-industry digital innovation.

FinTech Partner of the Year (Government)- IT Consortium

A particularly notable category of the night was the new FinTech Partner of the Year – Government, which was awarded to IT Consortium.

Their citation praised the organisation’s exceptional performance in strengthening government digital services and advancing national financial inclusion.

Through secure, efficient and inclusive technological solutions, IT Consortium has supported critical government initiatives and expanded access to reliable digital services nationwide.

KGL Technologies received the award for Corporate Partner of the Year from Solomon Hayford, Head Business Intelligence & Decision Support, MobileMoney LTD

Media partners

Media partners were also recognised for their indispensable role in public education and market transparency.

The Business & Financial Times was named Media Partner of the Year in the Print category, Joy FM/Joy News received the award for Radio and TV, while News Ghana was honoured as Media Partner of the Year in the Online category.

Their citations praised their commitment to rigorous, relevant and comprehensive business journalism that strengthens public discourse and supports economic growth.

Law Partner of the Year Award- Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah

The legal community was represented through the Law Partner of the Year Award, which went to Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah.

They were recognised for exceptional professionalism and integrity, particularly in supporting complex transactions with innovative legal solutions and unwavering dedication to client service.

Merchant of the Year-Ayewamu

The business community celebrated Ayewamu, which was crowned Merchant of the Year.

The citation described Ayewamu as a model of excellence in digital financial services, applauding its dedication to advancing financial inclusion, exceptional customer service, and leadership in promoting convenience, security and trust in trade and commerce.

Patrick Penrich Ventures- Overall Best Agent

One of the most emotional moments of the night came when Patrick Penrich Ventures was named Agent of the Year, honoured as the Overall Best Agent in Ghana.

The citation praised the agent’s integrity, reliability and consistent delivery of outstanding customer experience.

It noted that Patrick Penrich Ventures had strengthened the reach of digital financial services across communities while playing a vital role in deepening trust in Ghana’s financial inclusion agenda.

Regulator of the Year Award-Bank of Ghana

The regulatory pillar of Ghana’s financial ecosystem also received top recognition. The Regulator of the Year Award went to the Bank of Ghana, celebrated for exemplary leadership in creating a safe, progressive and innovative fintech environment.

The Central Bank’s introduction of sandbox initiatives, cybersecurity frameworks, digital financial guidelines and consumer-protection systems were recognised as instrumental in strengthening industry confidence and expanding financial inclusion nationwide.

Hayford Kumah, Head of the FinTech Oversight and Supervision Unit at the BoG, who represented Governor Dr. Johnson Asiama, commended the ecosystem’s collective achievements.

He emphasised that Ghana’s recognition as the number one mobile money market for eight consecutive years, according to 2024 data, was the result of the dedication of all players present.

“We believe in this act of rewarding people for hard work,” he said. “These efforts have positioned Ghana as the leading mobile money market for eight years running.”

A night that reinforced Ghana’s digital finance leadership

The 2025 Fintech Stakeholder Dinner & Awards was more than an evening of celebration; it was a reaffirmation of Ghana’s leadership in Africa’s digital finance revolution.

The ceremony reinforced the message that innovation, strong partnerships and consistent service excellence remain the foundation of Ghana’s booming fintech ecosystem.

MobileMoney LTD expressed its commitment to continue championing digital transformation by collaborating with start-ups, established fintechs, regulators and global technology partners.

As the night came to an end, one theme became clear: the future of Ghana’s digital financial ecosystem will be shaped not by individual actors, but by the collective strength of partnerships that continue to unlock new possibilities for millions.
