According to eyewitness accounts, the men were cutting down one tree when a nearby tree abruptly came crashing down on them.

Residents described the incident as mysterious, with some suggesting possible spiritual influences due to the unexplained collapse of the tree.

The unusual nature of the tragedy prompted traditional leaders to perform customary rites at the scene before the bodies were allowed to be moved.

The tragic deaths have left the Bekawopa community in shock, as both men were well-known locally for their work in timber operations.

The bodies have since been removed and conveyed to the morgue.

Investigations are currently underway to uncover the circumstances behind the fatal event.

In another development, the youth of Assin Swedru Akuapem in the Assin Central Municipality of the Central Region have issued a strong warning, threatening to burn down the Twifo Praso Police Station following the alleged death of their 40-year-old relative and friend, Mr George Annim, while in a police cell.

In a statement to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohohu, the aggrieved youth appealed to the IGP to intervene urgently and ensure an independent investigation into the case to uncover the circumstances surrounding Mr Annim’s death.
