Dr Kofi Nsiah-Poku, Managing Director of the Kinapharma Group, has been elected as the new President of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), taking over from Dr Humphrey Ayim-Darke.

His election follows a closely contested race, in which he emerged victorious over notable contenders, including Raphael Ayitey, Chief Executive of Coconut Grove Regency Hotel.

A seasoned consultant pharmacist and entrepreneur, Dr Nsiah-Poku brings decades of experience in pharmaceutical production and food processing to the helm of AGI.

His leadership of Kinapharma, a company he founded, has transformed the business into a regional powerhouse.

The firm now operates across Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and Liberia, producing more than 150 pharmaceutical products ranging from painkillers and antihypertensives to antimalarials and antidiabetic medications.

Beyond pharmaceuticals, Dr Nsiah-Poku has successfully diversified into the beverage sector with the establishment of Healthilife Beverages, a leading brand of juices and milk products in Ghana.

His commitment to excellence is matched by his philanthropic work, which spans support for education, healthcare, sports initiatives, and Christian outreach programmes.

Dr. Nsiah-Poku received his early education at Opoku Ware School, where he distinguished himself as an Assistant School Prefect, foreshadowing the leadership qualities he would later exhibit in business and industry.

His election as AGI President is widely viewed as a signal of renewed energy and focus for Ghana’s industrial sector, particularly in promoting manufacturing growth, enhancing export competitiveness, and advocating for policies that strengthen the nation’s industrial base.

In addition to Dr. Nsiah-Poku’s election, the AGI also announced other key executive appointments. Mr. Mukesh Thakwani was elected Vice-President for Large-Scale Industries, Mr. Dela Gadzanku assumed the role of Vice-President for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), Mrs. Maureen Odoi became the National Treasurer, while Mr. Emmanuel Gyimah and Mrs. Joyce Ababio were appointed as Executive Members.

The AGI leadership, under Dr. Nsiah-Poku, is expected to focus on building stronger collaborations between government and industry, promoting industrial expansion, and ensuring that Ghana’s manufacturing sector remains competitive in the West African and global markets.

With a proven track record of entrepreneurship, strategic vision, and regional impact, Dr. Nsiah-Poku’s election marks a pivotal moment for AGI and for Ghana’s industrial development. Stakeholders are optimistic that his presidency will drive innovative policies, strengthen local industries, and further position Ghana as a hub for manufacturing excellence in West Africa.
