Twenty basic schools across Daffiama, Jirapa and Nandom municipalities have received 3,070 supplementary teaching and learning materials under the Nurturing Education through Resource Donations (NERD) Project, an initiative by A-ensonga Hearts aimed at improving learning outcomes in deprived communities.

This second regional edition of the NERD Project follows a successful first phase in the Upper East Region.

The decision to expand to the Upper West was influenced by Mr. Solomon Kuupole, who appealed for his community to also benefit from the initiative.

The donation comprised essential educational resources, including exercise books, textbooks from Alpha and Omega Publications, general textbooks from individuals, notepads, pens, pencils, reusable tote bags created by Kems Crafts Gh, and water bottles.

These items were provided to support teachers and pupils in schools where access to learning materials remains limited.

Beneficiary schools included Kogle R/C Primary/JHS, Nandom English-Arabic Basic School, Danko M/A Primary, Yibile M/A Primary, Nandomkpee M/A Primary, 31st December Women Movement Primary, Konzokalaa R/C Primary, Naa Polkuu Primary, Toyenpari St. Michael’s Primary, St. Anthony’s Primary, Tuopare R/C, Taayaga KG/Primary, Guo A&B, Ko A&B, Red Cross R/C, St. Paul’s R/C, Siri M/A Primary, and St. Cecilia R/C Primary A&B.

Mr. Abraham Peter, Headteacher of Kogle Basic School, expressed gratitude to A-ensonga Hearts, noting that the donation would significantly enhance teaching delivery and improve pupil engagement.

Ms. Abdulai Adiza, a pupil of Nandom English-Arabic Basic School, thanked the NGO, saying the new materials would motivate learners to study harder.

Madam Lilian Paaga, Headteacher of Ko B Primary School, said the support came at a crucial time, especially for pupils who often lack the basics needed for effective learning.

Founder and Executive Director, Ms. Kenndicta A-ensonga Ajene, reaffirmed the project’s commitment to bridging educational inequality through supplementary teaching and learning resources, stressing that all pupils nationwide write the same BECE despite disparities in resources.

She thanked all stakeholders: Alpha and Omega Publications, Kems Crafts Gh, individual donors, volunteers, and community partners, for their vital support.

With the completion of the Upper West edition, a total of 6,505 learning materials have been distributed to 30 schools across the Upper East and Upper West Regions.

Ms. Ajene also encouraged individuals, institutions, and corporate bodies wishing to support NERD Phase 3 to reach out via 0247806393 or aensongahearts@gmail.com.
