Mr. Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, Minister for the Interior, has assured Ghanaians that the upcoming recruitment into the Internal Security Services will be conducted in a free, fair, transparent and merit-based manner, with absolutely no room for favouritism.

Speaking at a news conference in Accra on Friday to brief Ghanaians on the recruitment process, the Minister debunked reports that recruitment had already been done, stressing that the integrity of the process remained a top priority.

“I want to assure the public that this recruitment exercise will be fair and transparent. Nobody has been pre-selected, and nobody can buy their way into the system,” he said.

Mr. Mubarak explained that the recruitment process would officially commence on Monday, November 17, 2025, when the application portal opens, instead of the originally advertised November 15, 2025 date.

The Minister explained that the decision followed consultations with Security Chiefs after the tragic incident recorded during the Armed Forces recruitment exercise on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, which claimed six lives and left 28 others injured.

“We took this decision as a mark of respect to the bereaved families and those who were injured,” he said.

Outlining the Ministry’s strategy for a smooth and safe recruitment process, Mr Mubarak highlighted the rollout of a centralised e-recruitment portal designed to standardise and harmonise recruitment across all agencies under the Interior Ministry.

The portal, he explained, was accessible on multiple devices and built to handle high traffic.

Application vouchers, he explained, would be available nationwide at GCB Bank branches, as well as through a USSD short code, details of which, he added, would be published across media platforms.

“We want to make the process easy and convenient. You can apply from your home, your office, or wherever you are,” the Minister stated.

To ensure safety and eliminate overcrowding, he indicated that multiple screening centres would be set up, each accommodating no more than 1,000 applicants at a time, adding that screening would also be staggered, with each agency conducting its process independently.

“We want to avoid the unfortunate situations we have seen in the past. Every applicant will be given a specific centre and time slot, generated automatically by the system,” he explained.

The Minister also announced that several 24/7 helplines would be provided on the portal to offer technical and general support to applicants throughout the recruitment period.

He reiterated the Ministry’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption and warned the public against scammers and alleged middlemen.

“The recruitment is not for sale. If anyone approaches you claiming they can secure you a slot, report them immediately. They will be arrested,” he emphasised.

He also encouraged all qualified young Ghanaians to take advantage of the opportunity to serve the nation, stressing that it was only through application that they would gain access to the services.
