The Manhyia Palace has announced a new date for the final funeral rites of the late Ghanaian highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.

The ceremony, originally scheduled for December 6, 2025, will now take place on December 13, 2025.

The change was confirmed following a meeting at the Otumfuo Saamanhene Palace on November 10, 2025, where a new funeral committee—chaired by Dadiesoabahene—was inaugurated to oversee the event’s organisation and preparations.

During the meeting, Ernestina Akosua Brempomaa, sister of the late musician, called for a postmortem examination, expressing concerns of possible foul play in her brother’s passing.

She appealed for the funeral to be postponed until the autopsy results could confirm the true cause of death.

In response, the Chiefs resolved that the matter of the postmortem would be handled by the police authorities, while affirming December 13 as the new date for the final funeral rites.

They further urged the family to maintain unity and ensure a dignified and honourable farewell for the celebrated artist.

Addressing another issue raised during the meeting, the Asantehene granted pardon to Akosua Brempomaa for invoking the Great Oath, cautioning her to refrain from repeating such actions in the future.

Born on September 29, 1964, in Nsuta in the Ashanti Region, Charles Kwadwo Fosu rose from humble beginnings to become a household name, revolutionising the highlife scene with his unique blend of storytelling, rhythm, and vocal mastery.

Over the years, he released more than 30 albums, many of which became instant classics and shaped the soundscape of Ghanaian music.

His songs often pushed social boundaries—sometimes controversial, always thought-provoking, but undeniably captivating.

From the romantic balladry of Makra Mo to the playful mischief of Aben Wo Ha, Daddy Lumba consistently redefined the meaning of entertainment, embedding his artistry in the everyday experiences of Ghanaians.
