Accra Hearts of Oak has apologised for what it called “unfortunate scenes” following their Ghanaian Premier League match against rivals Asante Kotoko at Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Hearts of Oak fell to a 1-0 defeat against arch-rivals Asante Kotoko in a match overshadowed by aggressive behaviour from some players towards match officials.”

A club statement released on Monday, November 10, 2025, said, “We are especially grateful to our fans who turned up in their numbers. Your presence, energy and commitment continue to inspire us, and we do not take it for granted.”

The Phobian Club further stated that the incident after the final whistle did not reflect its values of “discipline, respect and fair play.”

It extended apologies to the Ghana Football Association, match officials, supporters and the public.

Hearts of Oak said it had opened internal disciplinary proceedings against player Hussein Mohammed, who was involved in a heated exchange with officials.

“Football is a game of passion, but it must always be governed by respect. We remain committed to upholding the dignity of our badge and the trust of our supporters.

“To our fans, thank you for standing with us. Your voice matters, and loyalty drives us to do better. We ask for your continued support as we work to restore confidence and uphold the highest standards of conduct,” the statement ended.

Hearts of Oak have been charged with misconduct by the Ghana Football Association Disciplinary Committee and could be sanctioned if found guilty.
