A flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has vowed never to concede defeat in a presidential election until the Electoral Commission (EC) officially declares the results.

During his campaign tour of the Savannah Region, Agyapong told party delegates that he would remain resolute in defending the mandate of the people, stressing that conceding before an official declaration would be both premature and irresponsible.

“Until the last constituency is counted, if I am a Presidential candidate, I will never accept defeat. I will never accept defeat until the Electoral Commission comes out to declare. I will never accept defeat,” he stated firmly, drawing loud cheers from supporters.

Positioning himself as a bold and uncompromising candidate, Agyapong urged NPP delegates to elect “bold men” capable of leading the party into the 2026 general election.

He argued that the NPP requires courageous leadership that can stand toe-to-toe with the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“We need bold men,” he said. “The party needs people who can match the NDC in every respect and defend the interests of our supporters.”

He took aim at some of his rivals, accusing them of waging personality-based campaigns instead of addressing substantive national issues such as job creation, which he said should dominate the party’s agenda.

“The delegates must reject any candidate who does not talk about jobs but spends time attacking my personality and saying I am not presidential,” Agyapong stated.

Agyapong also highlighted his long-standing contributions to the NPP, insisting that few within the party had sacrificed as much as he had.

“No one has contributed more to the party in terms of finances and body and soul,” he declared.

The former Assin Central MP, known for his outspoken nature, has been touring various regions to galvanize support ahead of the NPP’s upcoming flagbearer elections.

His campaign has centred on economic empowerment, job creation, and what he calls efforts to “restore honesty and discipline” within the party.
