Daddy Lumba is dead

The family of the late Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, is calling for an independent and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death in Ghana on July 26, 2025.

According to information received by the family, three conflicting accounts have emerged regarding the cause and circumstances of Fosuh’s death:

  • Eyewitness account:

An eyewitness reported that on the night of the incident, the late Fosuh called a friend to visit his residence. Upon arrival, the friend was prevented from seeing him by a woman living with Daddy Lumba.

After waiting for nearly two hours, the friend left. On his way home, he received a call informing him that Mr. Fosuh had died at home.

  • Police and coroner’s report:

A report from the Ghana Police Service to the Coroner at the District Magistrate Court in Accra stated that Mr. Fosuh, a known diabetic, complained of pain in his legs and waist on 24 July 2025 and was taken to the Sunshine Diagnostic Centre for an MRI scan.

Due to agitation and fear, he was placed under anaesthesia. After the scan, he developed severe pain and was transferred to the Bank Hospital, where he passed away on 26 July 2025.

  • Account from Ms. Priscilla:

Ms. Priscilla O. initially told the family during their first meeting that Fosuh had been taken to the Bank Hospital, where he received an injection that caused him severe pain before he died.

However, the following day, when Kwasi, a cousin of the late musician, asked her the same question, she gave a different version—claiming that Fosuh had actually died at home and that she had cleaned and dressed the body before calling a friend, Serwaa A., to help take him to the hospital. Since then, Ms. Priscilla O. has declined to provide further details, and her statements remain inconsistent and contradictory.

These conflicting accounts have left the family deeply distressed and concerned, raising serious questions about the true cause of death and whether proper medical and investigative procedures were followed.

The family, represented by Mrs. Akosua Serwah Fosuh (widow) and Ms. Ernestina Fosuh (elder sister), has formally contacted the following authorities for assistance:

  • The German Embassy in Accra, Ghana

  • The Federal Criminal Police Office (Bundeskriminalamt – BKA) in Wiesbaden, Germany

  • The German Federal Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt) in Berlin

In addition, the family is calling on the Ghana Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to question Ms. Priscilla O. and Mr. Philip Kwabena A. (also known as Roman Fada) to assist in uncovering the truth about the circumstances leading to the death of Mr. Charles Kwadwo Fosuh.

The family has submitted all relevant documentation — including medical reports, official correspondence, and a confirmation from Transition Funeral Home regarding the handling of the remains — and continues to appeal to both German and Ghanaian authorities to conduct a thorough, transparent, and independent inquiry to determine the exact cause of death.

A statement issued by Mrs. Akosua Serwah Fosuh and Ms. Ernestina Fosuh on behalf of the family stated that “We, the family of the late Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, loved him dearly and are devastated by the unclear and conflicting reports surrounding his death. We have confidence that both the German and Ghanaian authorities will work together to uncover the truth, ensure justice, and bring transparency to this painful situation.”
