The Ghana Black Stars have secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday night.

A decisive first-half goal from Mohammed Kudus made the difference in a tense encounter that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the final whistle.

Kudus, who has been in scintillating form for both club and country, struck after combining brilliantly with Jordan Ayew to slot home a low finish past the Comoros goalkeeper.

The win sees Ghana top Group I of the CAF World Cup qualifiers, earning the much-coveted ticket to the global showpiece to be jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada in 2026.

Comoros, who came into the game with hopes of upsetting Ghana as they did in previous meetings, struggled to break through a well-organized Black Stars defense.

The victory sparked wild celebrations among fans across the country, as Ghana booked its fifth World Cup appearance following previous qualifications in 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2022.

With the ticket secured, the focus now shifts to preparations for the 2026 World Cup, where the Black Stars will aim to make a strong impact on the global stage once again.

The other teams in Group I for the 2026 qualifiers were Madagascar, who placed second in the group with 18 points; Mali, finishing third with 18 points; Comoros, finishing fourth with 15 points; the Central African Republic (CAR), placing fifth with 15 points; and Chad, finishing sixth with 1 point.
